Scourmont

Dom Armand Veilleux, Abbot of Scourmont (diocese of Tournai – Belgium) since 1999, having reached the age of retirement mentioned in ST 40.A of the Constitutions, presented his resignation to the General Chapter 2017. The General Chapter accepted the resignation which became effective on November 1, 2017.

On November 17, 2017, the Community of Scourmont elected as abbot, for an indefinite term, Father Damien Debaisieux.
Dom Damien was born in 1971 in Soissons (France). He entered Scourmont in 2004, made his solemn profession in 2010 and was ordained a priest in 2014. He was delegate of CNE at the General Chapter 2011.
At the time of his election, Dom Damien was Novice Master and Cellerar of the Community.
