November 21, 2021: Father Jean-Pierre Schumacher was born in 1924 in Lorraine (France). He was a priest of the Marist Brothers before entering Timadeuc in 1957. He had been ordained a priest in 1953 and made his solemn profession in 1960. He was sent to strengthen the community of Atlas-Tibhirine (Algeria) in 1964, together with two other monks, at the request of Cardinal Duval, then Archbishop of Argiers, and made his stability there in 1976. He was the only survivor of the assassination of the monks of Tibhirine in March 1996. Father was 97 years old, had been in monastic vows for 63 years and 68 years a priest when the Lord called him.
