Tamié / Désert

November 21, 2023: Dom Jean-Marie Couvreur was born in 1938 in Quesnoy (France). He entered Mont des Cats in 1960, made his solemn profession in 1966 and was ordained a priest in 1969. He was Superior ad nutum of the community of Désert in 1986, then Abbot from 1987 to 2013.
After the closure of the Monastery of Désert in 2020, he chose to continue his monastic life at the Abbey of En Calcat (OSB), maintaining his stability at Les Neiges, and after the closure of Les Neiges in 2022, at Tamié.
Father was 85 years old, had been in monastic vows for 61 years and 54 years a priest when the Lord called him.
