January 11, 2026, Dom Korneel Vermeiren, was born in 1938 in Meer, Belgium. He entered Maria Toevlucht Abbey in Zundert in 1963 where he made his solemn vows on January 11, 1969 and was ordained priest in 1974. In 1990, he transferred to Koningshoeven Abbey, where he served as superior and abbot from 1990 to 2005. Father was 87 years old had 60 years of monastic profession and had been a priest for years 51 when the Lord called him.
