Port-du-Salut/ Bellefontaine

April 21, 2019: Father Eugène Zimmerman was born in 1919 in Neuve-Eglise (France). He entered the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (Spiritans) and was ordained priest in 1945. In 1951, he joined the Carmelites and pronounced his solemn vows in 1952. He entered Port-du-Salut in 1955, made his solemn profession in 1958. He arrived in Bellefontaine in 1973 and was sent as chaplain to the Etoile Notre-Dame (Benin). He provided this service more than 35 years, returning to Bellefontaine in 2010.
Father Eugène would have been 100 years old in October. He had been in monastic vows for 61 years and 74 years a priest when the Lord called him.
