As a consequence of the suppression of the Abbey of Sainte-Marie du Désert on 3 October 2020, the Abbey of San Isidro de Dueñas, in the diocese of Palencia (Spain), was deprived of the filial attachment to a Community of the Order and of the ministry of a Father Immediate.

After some time of reflection and deliberation, the community of San Isidro de Dueñas decided to ask the community of Santa María de Huerta, in the diocese of Osma-Soria (Spain), to receive it as a Daughter House. The community of Santa María de Huerta accepted the proposal to become its new Mother House. Both communities reciprocally expressed their agreement by the positive vote of their respective Conventual Chapters.

The Abbot General and his Council carefully examined the acts the respective Conventual Chapters and the reasons for the request. Taking into account the importance of the filiation connections in the Order and considering that the decision should not be deferred, on 19 March 2021 the Abbot General and his Council, acting on behalf of the General Chapter, voted unanimously that the affiliation of the Abbey of San Isidro de Dueñas to the Abbey of Santa María de Huerta be recognised as a fact and be legally effective as from that date. This decision was approved by the Abbot General by means of a document (Prot. No. 792.21) which has been sent to the interested parties.
