He entered the Abbey of N.-D. des Dombes in 1953, made his solemn profession in 1961 and was ordained a priest in 1967. He was Abbot from 1990 until the closure of the monastery of Dombes in 2002. After the closure of the monastery, he made the choice to go to La Trappe and made his stability there. Father was 85 years old, had been in monastic vows for 65 years and 54 years a priest when the Lord called him.
