Origins

Founded by Wrentham. Erected as abbey 7 May 1970

History

On 18 October 1964 a group of nuns from Wrentham came to found a new monastery, under the title Our Lady of the Mississippi, not far from the monastery of New Melleray, which accepted the paternity.
The monastery was built onto an existing farmhouse and on 3 May 1968 the church was consecrated by the archbishop of Dubuque.
1979-80 Construction of dormitory, refectory, scriptorium.

2002: New candy factory built.

2009-10: Construction of senior wing and major renovation of entire monastery.
